CBE at KU Updates 10.11.2023

Highlights

• Last week several representatives from CBE at KU attended the CBExchange Conference. Highlights and key learnings will be shared in strand meetings over the next few weeks.

• We have a focus on progressing the communications plan over the next month. Reminder to utilize the CBE One Sheet as a guiding document. More resources, including a website, will be available in the near future.

Business Processes & Systems

Next Meeting: Oct 19

Strand members are reviewing the nonterm calendar proposal and providing pros/cons/concerns for their business area. There will be an additional sample calendar for review in the next 2 weeks. On the Oct 19 meeting, we’ll discuss pros & cons of each in preparation for the final proposal to leadership on Oct 27.

Discussions continue on term lengths.

On November 8, the Curriculum strand meeting time will be extended and repurposed for a Faculty Model Workshop, facilitated by C-BEN. Calendar holds to be sent this week.

Unicon has completed Phase 1 of their stakeholder interviews.

In the process of outlining the key decisions and program progression that are necessary to proceed to recommendations.

Policy & Regulatory Compliance

The STEM masters program was submitted to KSDE on October 1.

In our next meeting we’ll review the updated application for CBE provided by HLC. We’ll also start outlining the full program approval timeline.

Student Journey Supports

An initial draft of the CBE Student Support Model is completed.

In upcoming meetings, we’ll continue to build out the model and apply it to one of our inaugural programs and get specific on how we translate into a launch plan.
